Kathleen 01:13
Oh Kathleen With your red jacket so pristine Jealous of every single drink you drink Is it weird to wonder what your bedroom looks like Or ponder what kind of car your drive Oh Kathleen I don't want to sound obscene Do you know what I mean? Would it be alright to see you naked Friday night? I promise I won't tell Kathleen

Oh fuck it's weighing on me This thing called the new heavy It comes crashing down Without a goddamn sound Just like the can In the palm of your hand You'll slam it down, buy yourself another round Oh fuck it's killing me This thing called the new heavy It tears out your heart Right from the goddamn start Just like a can In the palm of your hand You'll slam it down, buy yourself another round Forever awkward, young at heart Atlas chugged, I fell apart Oh fuck it's killing me Oh fuck it's killing me now So I'll slam it down, buy myself another round

DOLLAR BEER EULOGY The dollar beers are over The depressions sinking in It’s the end of an era It’s the beginning of the end The dive bar poets slow to react To all those memories left behind Raise a glass to all these friends To the death of Friday night The parties over The depressions going to win It’s such a gigantic, lonely bummer I’ll never see your face again The nostalgia that I hold on to The only place I could’ve loved you Where we went to get out of the rain Next to all the shitty jokes Barroom rumors & anecdotal quotes Where the poet seeks immortal fame With these heavy pours for heavy hearts Upon these walls I write your name I write your name in a heart shaped frame Just like the hollow keg That slowly pours it’s last drop The dive bar poet scrawls on these walls Before the ink in their pen dries up

Rooftops 02:26
Rooftops2 I’m so desperate to take on the night That I’ve been locking myself in With all the drunks and the passerbys Just to see what I’ve got within Tonight I’m flying on top of rooftops Tomorrow I’ll be sleeping in Watching the sun come over the horizon Fighting the fight I know I’m gonna win Light up that signal in the sky I’m desperate to be saved tonight As a man, I'm flesh and blood I can be ignored, I can be destroyed But as a symbol, I can be incorruptible I can be everlasting. Sometimes it feels like a burning house falling on me Just like the weight of this world So why do we fall? So I can learn to pick myself back up

about

These songs were all featured on our split with the Sexy Cowboys except we didn’t include the song “Rooftops” on the split. When we found out Derek was moving, we quickly threw together a set to record and “Rooftops” was kind of quickly finished. We only played it live once but I still really love the chorus. I always wanted to write a song based off the rooftop chase scene from Batman Begins because it’s bad ass but also because sometimes you immerse yourself deeply into something (be it beers, drugs, vigilantism) that you get a little lost. This song is about the enjoyment of the party but what happens when that’s all you become? Can you escape the darkness? Alternate titles where “The Drunk Knight” and “Barfman Begins.” This song does kind of dive deep into a dark realm, one of which we really hate to admit to ourselves but I think that it does give a sense of hope. Like the Bat signal shining in the night sky to show Gotham to never give up hope, we,too, can be the beacon of hope and change within ourselves. Plus there’s nothing wrong with pancaking some cop cars every now and then.
